I present... the adorably psychotic Lee Tergesen!

Last Friday, Lee Tergesen guest-starred on Cinemax's new series "Outcast," and he was INCREDIBLE. Granted, he was playing a deranged psycho for approximately the eleventy-th time, BUT, I seriously think he probably did his best acting since the movie "Silver Tongues." He went from normal guy to monster, and he was truly scary, funny, revolting, sexy, and sympathetic, occasionally all at the same time. I mean, I know I'm biased. But this performance was 10x better than his recent NCIS: NOLA appearance and 50x better than most of his other recent guest-starring stints. It was really the perfect role for someone with his talent and abilities.

So, as is becoming my habit, after I watched the episode, I was so enthralled that I felt compelled to re-watch it, taking screencaps along the way. His portion of the plot was the A-story for the episode, so he had a LOT of screen time. So here is my recap, alongside a plethora of photos of Lee (like, uh, 57 of them).

Warning: SPOILERS for the entire episode.

When we first meet Lee's character, Blake, he's just your average cop, hangin' out at the bowling alley with his partner, Luke; Luke's wife; and a blind date.
outcast

[Insert your own ball-licking joke here.] Yummmmm.

Unfortunately, Blake begins to feel *odd* and starts acting like a dick. (Oh, but that nose and profile...)

Hmmm, apparently Blake has a bit of a hair fetish! What a weirdo! I'm glad I don't know anyone like that.

The outing ends, and since Blake's not feeling right, Luke and his wife take him back to their house to look after him. Aww, he just needs me someone to cuddle on the couch with!

Then Luke heads out to the drugstore, leaving Blake alone with his wife. Uh-oh.

Really, this is just so totally backwards.

Anyway, Very Bad Stuff starts happening...

... and Blake turns into a despicable monster, brutally raping and murdering his buddy's wife.

I'm leaving out the goriest parts.

Fast forward a few years later, and Luke visits Blake in Oz prison. Blake is like, "Hey, pal, what's up? Whereya been?"
outcast43

Blake wants to be friends with Luke again, but Luke's all "Don't touch me!"
outcast3

Luke is convinced that Blake is posessed by a demon, so he's brought along a Reverend and the Reverend's trusty, previously-possessed sidekick ("Outcast") to perform an exorcism on Blake. Possessed demon!Blake is amused by this turn of events.
outcast2

The Reverend tries to do his exorcism thang, and the ritual starts freaking Blake out.

outcast7

But then demon!Blake lets out with a blood-curdling laugh... 'cause it turns out that he was just faking the whole thing.
outcast8

Haha. Funny joke.
outcast9

He hops up on the table to see what else the Reverend has in his bag of exorcism tricks.
outcast10

Then Outcast is like, "Why don't I try?" And demon!Blake's all, "Eh, go for it."
outcast11

So Outcast tries to conduct an exorcism just by placing his hand on Blake's forehead.
outcast12

Which appears to genuinely unsettle demon!Blake.
outcast13

A little fodder for those B/K S&M fantasies. *g*
outcast14

So, then demon!Blake gets defensive and starts playing these mind games with his "saviors." He tries to plant seeds of doubt in their abilites...

... expresses mock "concern" over their own messed-up lives...

... and belittles them via snarky, sarcastic digs.

OMG I think this one is my favorite.

LOOKIT HIM. Isn't he just adorable?

NO, NO, NO, I mean, isn't he a creepy monster?!

Honestly, I can't tell the difference.

Anyway, the Reverend dude does his best to block it all out and tries once again to exorcise the demon inside Blake.
outcast15

Finally, demon!Blake's like, "Fuck this shit. I've had enough." His demonic abilities allow him to rip off the handcuffs, and he threatens to stab Reverend with his cross.
outcast16

Then Outcast is like, "Yeah, well, I've had enough, too!" And he and demon!Blake go at it.
outcast17

Outcast whales away on demon!Blake, throwing him around...
outcast18

... and landing punch after punch.
outcast19

But Lee remains sizzling hot, nonetheless! Literally. LOL
outcast20

Then, shit gets real. Demon!Blake starts levitating...
outcast21

... and, instead of blood, spits out a black oily substance. Maybe the exorcism worked?!
outcast22

Just when they begin to believe it's over and done, because surely he can't take any more...
outcast23

... it turns out he can.
outcast24

Yikes! And that's when everyone gives up and goes home.

Later, Luke visits Blake in the Oz prison infirmary...

... where demon!Blake continues to taunt him.

Luke decides he's had enough. Good-bye demon!Blake.

Except Luke has a change of heart. He just can't go through with it.

Luke leaves, and Demon!Blake lives to taunt another day...

... perhaps leaving the door open for future appearances from Lee! *fingers crossed*

Outcast is definitely not my kind of show, mostly because I don't like how Kirkman writes nothing (except Marvel Zombies that is a gem even if you don't like zombie, like me, or superheroes ) but I've watched this episode for Lee and I really liked, mostly for the cast and of course for Lee (the plot is still a bit boring for me). I would love to see him in something more funny, a comedy maybe but even a role when he can smile sometime(not a creepy smile, more like Generation Kill) but he was amazing. Scary (the beginning with Luke's wife was brrrrr) , funny, smart, even sad. And it's not just me because I've seen a lot of kudos online from journalist and audience for his performance and a lot of people that would love to see him as Joker.

i thought he was great on *christine* and had hoped that he would be on more. but instead they got eric mccormack (not bad, but not lee :-( ). i thought the chemistry between him and JLD was great (even though, not much of a fan of hers) and his character (and the writing) was wonderfully shaded in his levels of offensive-/obnoxious-ness (more in first than second).

another great appearance that season was in *cupid*.

I don't know if you have Comcast, but when you go to their OnDemand channnel, they always have some sort of trailers or are talking about different shows. This last week they were showing very brief clips of the top ten something (shows to watch or most watched) and they showed a clip from Outcast and it was Lee sitting at that table. And I was sad that I wouldn't be able to see the show, so thanks so much for this!

Finally saw this..that was intense. Bravo Lee.
