I'm old, and I don't like change.
BUT
All sorts of doomsayers are predicting a LiveJournal Armageddon, and I want to have my ass covered if and when it all goes down. Therefore, this weekend I blew the dust off my Dreamwidth account (which I've had for 4 years and used exactly once) and uploaded my LJ to it.
So I guess I feel better?
Anyway, if any of you are thinking of leaving LJ permanently and going to DW instead, you can friend me there if you want. My account username is the same: vanillalime at DW.
The latest shenanigans at LJ are annoying and disconcerting, but frankly, I find the atmosphere and innerworkings of Facebook to be 10x more sinister. (But maybe that's just me.) I personally don't see myself leaving LJ anytime soon. What remains of the Oz fandom still seems entrenched here, and I worry about it fracturing itself into non-existence. So, I'll continue posting here and at oz_daily and maintaining the
leeloni comm. I'll amuse myself, if no one else. LOL

And you're right about FB. Every time I get one of those "helpful" posts that says, "You just liked a page by so-and-so, maybe you should look at your privacy options," I always think, "I need to block FB from seeing my FB posts, likes, & etc."

Everything you said, exactly, exactly.

It's nice to know that I'm not just shouting into the wind here.

However, I too loathe change, and will cling to this place for the memories, and for this new generation of Oz fans that has sprung up where almost all of the old-timers have disappeared (BTW, I have to give a lot of credit for that to you personally, as we'd reached the point where the Oz fandom was just about dead, when you came along and breathed some much needed life back into it - there may only be a handful of you 'Next Gens' as I think of you, but you've really made such a difference to the atmosphere around LJ - thank you). So I'll get set up over on DW (once I stop procrastinating about it), but I'll stay here too, for as long as I possibly can :-)

"old-timers" (for lack of a better word) like you decided to stay around to encourage and guide us new fish. :-)
I'm hoping that the fandom will do something special to celebrate the upcoming 20th anniversary of the show's premiere. It would be wonderful if we could draw some of the fandom's earlier, departed members back in for that, even if it's just for a one-time deal. (And if they could be enticed into hanging around, that would be even better!)
