Food Porn (let's pretend this is a post-Oz AU)

"Stop it!" exclaimed Toby. He smacked the back of Chris's hand with his oven mitt. "Can't you read? It says right here on the package: Do not consume raw cookie dough."

"But it tastes so good," Chris replied defensively.

Secret Santa Surprise

"Okay, we're all set," said Father Ray with a clap of his hands. "Everyone bring in their Secret Santa gifts by December 24 and place them here under the tree. We'll open them up at the staff party that afternoon."

Everyone began filing out of the break room, heading back to their posts. As Ray turned around to grab his cup of coffee, he realized that Gloria was lingering behind, still staring at the little slip of paper that she had drawn out of the hat.

Movie Night

Stella Coffa dumped a small box of old, dusty, VHS videotapes onto the library table in front of O'Reily, Beecher, and Keller.

"Someone just donated all these old Christmas movies to the library," she explained to them. "And I've convinced Tim McManus to show one here tonight in Em City. Why don't the three of you decide which one?"

Up on the Housetop

Sean awoke to the pitter-patter of feet scampering above him. For a second or two, he was six years old again, wondering if Santa's sleigh had landed on the roof of his childhood home. But then he rolled over and saw the pieces of his uniform scattered across the floor, and the moment was gone.

Must be squirrels, he thought with a sigh.

OZ Advent!

I love the holidays! And I love OZ! And I find it hard waiting in breathless anticipation until January for all the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] oz_magi stories and artwork!

oz ornament

SO...

Beginning tomorrow, December 1, I am going to attempt a 24-day Oz-themed advent calendar countdown! I plan to post a holiday-oriented graphic, or drabble, or maybe a bit of meta, each day until Christmas. Nothing real elaborate, just a little something each day that will hopefully spread some seasonal cheer!

It'll be heavy on the B/K ('cos that's how I roll), but there'll also be some Tim/Sean, some O'Reily brothers, and gen stuff in there as well. Please understand that the undertaking is a little ambitious, especially for this time of year, and while I have some things queued up, I can't quite promise clockwork posting at this point. But I'm going to do my best!

(I have an old fandom friend who attempted something similar years ago, and her 24-day advent quickly turned into the 12 days of Christmas, and then even that came up short. But it was still fun!)

I hope you all enjoy! :-)

While digging around for [livejournal.com profile] oz_daily pictures, I stumbled upon a really interesting old (2001) article about Oz from The New York Times. It talks about the show's upcoming fifith season, and how they had to move production from Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood to Bayonne, New Jersey.

The Inmates of 'Oz' Move Into a New Emerald City

And I got so excited over the hands-down bestest part of the whole article, which was this:

[While filming the new season,] Mr. Winters, along with most of the other cast members, caught a ride in the ''Oz'' van, which shuttled between Manhattan and Bayonne several times a day. (Residents of the West Village might have noticed a group of familiar-looking felons loitering on a corner at 6 in the morning, five days a week.)

Because, ohmygod, YOU GUYS, can you imagine OZ CARPOOL KARAOKE?!!

All of a sudden, I want all this fic where the Ozzies (either the actors or their Oz counterparts) are all driving somewhere together and either singing songs, or fighting over what radio station to listen to, or bitching about the driver's driving skills, or commenting about the scenery outside, or whatever. Because that would be hilariously OZSOME.

That quote might also help explain this old picture:

And THEN, there was this little mention in the article:

Between takes, Robert Clohessy (Officer Murphy) got a friendly back rub from a transvestite,

Which, ooooo!!! A Murphy/Fiona rarepair! Someone needs to do this!

Title: When Death Dies
Pairing: Tobias Beecher/Chris Keller
Rating: PG-13 (for language)
Word Count: 2,268
Creature Prompt: Grim Reaper
Summary: Toby and Chris meet Death, but the encounter takes a strange turn.
Notes: Written for the 2016 Spook Me Multi-Fandom Halloween Ficathon. The artwork prompts assigned to me were as follows:

Artwork by Tegehel on the left, and by Egoodwinart on the right.
Additional note at the end of the story.

When Death Dies )

Title: Endgame
Pairing(s): Chris Keller/Fox Mulder, with strong Beecher/Keller overtones (and the tiniest hint of Mulder/Scully)
Rating: R (for sexual situations, language, and brief references to canon violence)
Word Count: 3,245
Setting: Oz, mid-Season 4 (late 2000)
Summary: Chris Keller receives a visit from FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. The good news? Agent Mulder doesn't think that Keller is a serial killer. The bad news? Mulder believes that he's a vampire instead.

Notes: The seed for this story was planted by [livejournal.com profile] dustandroses during the Fandom Giftbox fest at Dreamwidth when she wrote the prompt "Keller likes a challenge, so he seduces some guy even he wasn't sure he could get." That prompt, combined with her general likes of crossovers with fandoms like The X-Files, led to the following story. Unfortunately, there was no way I could complete it in time for the Fandom Giftbox, but I'm posting it now in time for Halloween.

Endgame )
vanillalime: (oz-teardrop)
Recently, I wrote a couple of pieces of Oz fic for the Fandom Giftbox fest over at Dreamwidth, and reveals were held last week. One was a short drabble written for [livejournal.com profile] trillingstar, who had requested B/K New Year's Eve/lockdown fic. The other was a piece of McManus/Murphy epistolary fic (my first attempt at such a thing) written for [livejournal.com profile] ozsaur for her prompt "The two of them talk about retirement plans."

A Sixth Sense (PG-13, 100 words)
Summary: Chris always knows what Toby needs to hear.

Goodbye Tension, Hello Pension (PG, 898 words)
Summary: Tim and Sean exchange e-mails discussing their retirement plans.

In addition, [livejournal.com profile] dustandroses had also requested Oz fic for the fest, and I was drawn to her prompt of "Keller likes a challenge, so he seduces some guy even he wasn't sure he could get." But, try as I might, my brain just couldn't formulate a coherent story out of the bits and pieces of plot I had for a Keller/Busmalis pairing (seriously!).

But then, BUT THEN, I looked at dusty's General Likes, and OH, the plot for another pairing took off--one that's definitely different for me, but a story just dying to be written nonetheless. Unfortunately, I knew that there was no way I could get such a story done before the fest's deadline, so I put it aside. And now I don't know if i should go to work on THAT, or my story for [livejournal.com profile] spook_me (which I've got an idea for, but not the details), or try to do both, or WHAT. But I'm feeling excited about writing something.

Hope you had a great day!

YOU GUYS

I finally figured out how to make an LJ header!

And I ended up revamping my entire journal!

Look at me! Look at me!

It all started when I made THIS graphic for [livejournal.com profile] mazephoenix's birthday. I was so pleased with the results of the coloring effects I used in the B/K photos. And I was, like, "You know what? I should use these photos again!"

(I hope you don't mind me re-using your gift, Maze.)

And once I sat down and took the time to really study the process and coding for inserting a header, it really wasn't that complicated. (Although, it was certainly a lot more complicated than it needed to be, given the other forms of social media that I've used headers for.)

I'm not 100% sold on the style I've selected, but I think it'll do for now.

Next on the To-Do List: [livejournal.com profile] oz_daily!!

Wishing you a day as wonderful as Tim and Sean's love!

It's like Christmas in May!

FIRST, last week I bought off Amazon a used copy of the Oz book (Augustus Hill's "journal") that Fontana & Co. put together after Season 5. Which I got it for a grand total price of only $10.13! With free shipping! It arrived yesterday, and even though the book is 13 years old, it's just like new, basically mint condition. Woot! What a bargain!

image.jpeg

Look at this glorious picture of Toby getting his head smashed in!

image.jpeg

BUT WAIT THATS NOT ALL

So, you know how when you buy something and you get a great deal, it totally justifies splurging on something else? Yeah, that's what happened next. Because I found an original copy of the script for "The Tip" episode of Oz on eBay (note: it's NOT the one I posted about on [livejournal.com profile] oz_daily, but another one sold by itself), and I decided go for it. It just came in the mail, and I AM SO EXCITED.

image.jpeg

You can't see it in the photo, but the pages are all a light blue, hence the "Rev. 1/22 blue" notation. (Which is a later draft than the one in that other eBay listing.)

So anyway, practically the first thing I did, of course, was skip to the scene where Beecher bites the tip off Robson's dick. Because, ya know, crazy!Toby is just TEH BEST. And, ohmygod, apparently, during the course of that whole sequence, Hill was supposed to be doing a voice-over where he sings "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" by the Righteous Brothers. LOLOLOOL Can you believe it? That would've been hilariously awesome! I'm guessing they were unable to get the rights to the song, and that's why it didn't happen. But LOOKIT:

image.jpeg

"Door opens. OFFICERS stand with BEECHER, naked, cuffed." RAWR

WheeEEEeee! I can't wait to read the rest of it!

Prepare to have your minds BLOWN AWAY.

For I have hit the mother lode of long-lost OZ-related treasures! YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE IT.

I'm, like, 95% sure that no OZ fan has ever seen this before, because if they had, everyone would still be talking about it today.

I made the discovery yesterday, and my jaw has been on the floor this entire time. I'm trying to package it together for a post at [livejournal.com profile] oz_rapsheet, but it's taking some time, because I'm trying really hard to do it right, and there's a LOT to work with. I hope to put it up today, but it might not get done until sometime this weekend. Gah.

But, OHMYGOD.

Just wait.

JUST YOU WAIT.
vanillalime: (cupcake)
This morning I was skimming through the shiny, updated Great Big Oz Resource List, when I noticed a link for an old fansite for Dean Winters. I decided to check it out and stumbled across several archived articles about Dean and Oz that had been written back when the show originally aired. I started reading this 2000 article about the show from the Indianapolis Star, and my jaw about hit the floor when I read the following passage:

[Rita] Moreno tells what she calls a "delicious" story about Fontana calling her with an idea about how to stage the prison riot that ended Oz's first season. She said Fontana wanted to put on West Side Story with Beecher in drag as Anita. The simulated violence in the play would turn real, and the riot would be on.

Unfortunately, Moreno says with a laugh, the rights to the play were unavailable.

OHMYGOD! How awesome would that have been?! And so completely bizarre! It would've been like Cop Rock!!!

And I just can't help but laugh at the fact that Tom has this apparently uncontrollable desire to put Lee in drag. Third time's a charm?

I don't even know why, but I love this idea so damn much. (Actually, that's a lie -- I know EXACTLY why I love this idea so much.) What a shame it didn't happen!

(Random Fun Fact: Did you know that Lee once said that his guilty pleasure was watching Rupaul's Drag Race?)
